** Why vouchers? **

The lockdown is tough on everyone, but it’s particularly difficult for our independent businesses, who have lost the vast majority of their income.

You can support them by buying a voucher from BeALocalHero.co.uk.  The business gets the money now and you have something to look forward to after lockdown.

To buy a voucher, please select the amount you want, add it to your cart and follow our checkout process. Your voucher will be automatically emailed to you.

Thank you for supporting independent businesses 🙂

About Us

“Thank you so much for your interest in supporting our business. We are luckier than many places as we can at least offer a takeaway service through our sliding doors, but like all hospitality businesses we have lost a big chunk of our revenue already this year and fear a lot of the summer will be lost too.

“We are hugely grateful for anyone who buys a voucher via this site and will look forward to welcoming you to Berry Head for a takeaway, or into the cafe when we are eventually back to normal!”

The Guardhouse Cafe is located in a Napoleonic Fortress on Berry Head, one of South Devon’s most beautiful spots. With sea on three sides, rare wildlife, frequent dolphin sightings and well preserved forts and cannons, Berry Head is a wonderful place to visit.

In normal times we are open 364 days per year trying to live up to this stunning location.

Like all hospitality businesses we have been forced to close for most of the sunny spring this year. We are much luckier than many businesses, as we were able to open as a takeaway in mid May. We hope that things will start to get back to normal later in the year.

We serve hot and cold drinks; amazing cakes; famous Devon cream teas; and locally sourced hot food including seasonal specials (in our current takeaway model this has been replaced by ‘street food specials’).
